Assistant Estimator


Location: Leeds, West Yorkshire, England

Salary: GBP30,000 - GBP35,000

Contract: Permanent

My Client is an established Main Contractor based in the Leeds area. Due to an increase in enquiries they are looking to add an Assistant Estimator to their preconstruction team with at least 3 years experience within the industry.

The Role

* Carry out analysis of received tender documents, do take-offs using estimating software and check off against client schedule of information, highlight any omissions or errorsLearn the process and tender reviews and resolving any issues that have been identified
* Prepare clear, accurate tender in accordance with the client's requirements for review by senior staff
* Obtain competitive and accurate quotations from Construction specialists and suppliers
* Handover tender information to the construction and surveying team in accordance with company procedure documents and review material rates with purchasing team members
* Liaise with technical representatives on products/plant
* Involve in assessment of different options and solutions
* Attend pre-tender and post-tender meetings when required
* Attend site meetings when required
* To adhere to existing working practices, methods, procedures, undertake relevant training and to respond positively to new and alternative systems.
* Support the senior staff

The Individual

The successful Assistant Construction Estimator will have:

* Industry recognised degree or equivalent experience - Civil Engineering / Construction Management / Commercial Management / Quantity Surveying / HND etc.
* Basic knowledge in the construction techniques, processes and materials involved in the competition of the business activities
* Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Excel to intermediate level
* Ability to multitask and when necessary work on a few different projects
* Excellent communication and time management skills
* Strong attention to detail
